Potential Energy

I was able to take a tour of Potential Energy, a Southern California Recycling Company located in Torrance on Sunday, March 18th. On this day they were gearing up to bring some new equipment online. All of the green painted equipment is new.













RAIN!

We get much-needed rain today. Part of what is being described as the Pineapple Express, we are getting what I believe to be the tail end of the system. Some areas are supposed to get up to 10 inches in the next 36 hours.

Installed two more posts

Yesterday the students dug the footings for two 6" x 6" post 24" deep. Today we set the posts in the holes and leveled them. Then we poured 4500 psi concrete into the holes. A total of eight 90 LB bags of concrete went into the footings. We beat the oncoming pineapple express storm forecasted for later today.
P1 Cut the 6 x timber and placed one of the posts.
P3 Poured concrete for one of the footings and set the 2nd post.
P4 Poured concrete for the other footing.
Note: During lunch, CPP Students brought by some flats so we can continue planting.
P5 Planted seeds into some flats.
P6 Planted seeds Cilantro into flat, discussed how to make the table top for planters.

Time Lapse of our Plants

We set a camera on the salad bar on Thursday and let it got through Monday morning 3-19.
It is amazing seeing plants grow!

LA County Fair Farm Field Trip

On Friday, March 16, 2018, HHS took 43 students to the LA County Fairgrounds Farm. The students were given a tour of the farm grounds, the students were encouraged to pick herbs and fruits. The students helped transplant plants from a 32 flat into 4" containers, and the students were treated to pizza!
